WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture is the insertion of thin sterile needles into specific points on the body to induce as therapeutic effect. Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years. Modern research shows acupuncture's points are areas where there is a high density of free nerve endings, mast cells, arterioles, and lymphatic vessels. Studies have shown that stimulation of acupoints releases beta- endorphins, serotonin, and other neurotransmitters that help control pain.
